Following the suspension of the University’s full-time and part-time classes, in compliance with the directive from the Ministry of Health that all learning institutions should close due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we would like to clarify as follows:

(a)   Distance learning students (including postgraduate students) will continue with their studies, uninterrupted. This is in line with the Circular from the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, which states, in part, that the closure of Universities does not mean cessation of learning. She has emphasised that Universities are expected to put in place mechanisms for online platforms (eLearning), which will enable students to continue accessing the learning materials.

(b)   All students (distance learning, full – time and part –time) are expected to continue registering for courses and paying tuition fees for the first semester of the 2020 academic year, until further notice. They will all have access to Modules on the Moodle platform, during the suspension of full-time and part-time classes.

(c)    All students (distance learning, full – time and part –time) are expected to continue submitting their assignments through the Moodle platform.

(d)   Graduating students should continue paying and registering for the graduation ceremony.  The date for the 12th Graduation Ceremony (8th May, 2020) remains unchanged. The University will advise on any changes regarding the 12th Graduation Ceremony with guidance from the Ministry of Health.

(e)   The dates for the Residential School (in April) and end of First Semester Examinations (in May) remain unchanged. More information on how these will be conducted (without contravening the Ministry of Health directive) will be communicated in due course.

(f)     All members of staff are instructed to continue with online interactions with students and potential students via the various University ICT platforms.
