ANNOUNCEMENT FOR FULL-TIME STUDENTS: SECOND SEMESTER 2021

ANNOUNCEMENT FOR FULL-TIME STUDENTS: SECOND SEMESTER 2021

 

This is to inform newly admitted and returning full-time students of the Zambian Open University (ZAOU) that the academic programmes and activities of the University, for the 2021 academic year, are running uninterrupted in accordance with the sessional dates approved by the Senate.

The closure of the Universities announced by the Government, due to the COVID 19 pandemic, requires that we switch to online teaching for our full – time students until further advice from the Government. This is in line with the Directive from the Ministry of Higher Education.

In this regard we wish to kindly draw your attention to the following:

1.0 SECOND SEMESTER CLASSES

1.1 The semester classes for the newly admitted and returning full-time students will be conducted online, via ZOOM, with effect from Monday 16th August 2021.

 

 1.2 Only registered students will have access to online lectures. The ICT support team, email: ICTsupport@zaou.ac.zm will answer students’ queries on all aspects of online teaching. Their telephone numbers are: (Shatu 0977501896, Mutale 0977746104, Kampamba 0977344556, Mabeta 0977747765, Julien 0977489364, Francis 0978128262 and Kaseya 0977845185)

1.3 The time table for online classes will be sent to all the affected students and will be available on the ZAOU website.

1.4 Therefore there is no need for you to travel to the Zambian Open University in Lusaka to attend classes. You will access them online, from anywhere in the world, provided you have access to Internet and are registered for courses.

2.0 PAYMENT OF FEES

2.1 The total amount of fees for the second Semester (August to December, 2021) is K8, 000.00, which should be paid before the online classes commence.

2.2 Fees can be paid in instalments. An initial payment of at least 50% of the first semester fees, which is K4, 000.00, must be paid before or the course registration period.  The remaining 50% of the fees must be paid not later than two (2) weeks before the beginning of the semester examinations in December, 2021.

2.3 Students who pay full fees (100%) for the semester, (K8, 000.00), before or during the course registration period will be given 5% discount.

2.4 Fees should be deposited in the Following Bank Account:

 2.4 Please indicate your names on the fees deposit form, when depositing your fees.

2.5 Students should obtain a receipt from the nearest ZAOU office upon presentation of the deposit slip, where they can also register for courses, for those who are able to travel to ZAOU offices.

2.6 A scanned copy of the deposit slip should be emailed together with the course Registration Form, which can be downloaded from the ZAOU website: www.zaou.ac.zm, for those students who are not able to travel to the nearest ZAOU offices.

3.0 COURSE REGISTRATION

3.1 Newly admitted and returning students, should start registering for courses now in order for the University to complete preparations for online teaching before 16th August, 2021.

3.5 Course registration should be done after payment of fees as prescribed above. Course registration should be done on the Registration Form, which can be downloaded from the ZAOU website www.zaou.ac.zm. It can also be sent on request (email: admissions@zaou.ac.zm).

3.6 The completed Registration Form should submitted to the nearest Office of the University and/or emailed to: admissions@zaou.ac.zm and copied to joshua.shatu@zaou.ac.zm, osward.mutale@zaou.ac.zm and bedson.katyamba@zaou.ac.zm.

3.7 Schedules of courses offered under various programmes are available on the ZAOU website www.zaou.ac.zm and/or request, email admissions@zaou.ac.zm.
