The Zambian Open University started offering pot-graduate studies in 2006 with an intake of 15 students in one programme – Master’s degree of Education in Literacy and Development. Since then twelve more postgraduate programmes have been introduced; and there are currently a total of twelve programmes, namely: Literacy and development, Education Management and Administration, History, Religious Studies, transformative Community Development, Sociology, Trade, Development and International Development, Development Studies, Business Administration (Generic), Business Administration (Human Resource Management), Business Administration (Project Management), and Criminal Justice. Three more Masters degrees are expected to come on stream in 2017, and these are: Special Education; Governance and Public Administration, Agricultural Sciences, and Urban and regional Planning.
